Tips for surviving the family car trip this summer

“Are we there yet?” It’s a familiar question for many Canadian families who take summer road trips – but it doesn’t have to be. A little planning before and during the trip can make even long journeys more enjoyable for both kids and parents.

TD Insurance offers the following tips for stress-free summer vacations:

Before you leave

Check your car: Car trouble is never a good thing – especially when the kids are along. Taking the time to ensure your car is tuned up before you leave can save you from potential headaches along the way. Check your tires, oil and fluids, or take your car in for a tune-up to make sure it’s fit for all road conditions.

Brush up on your skills: Even experienced drivers can benefit from a refresher on safe driving before hitting the road. Visit www.roadsafetyfirst.com, a resource for drivers created by TD Insurance, for tips and advice to help you properly maintain your car and travel long distances safely. After all, a safe driving record can help you to save money on car insurance.

On the road

Take breaks: A long road trip shouldn’t mean a departure from your normal routine. Not only will your kids enjoy a break from sitting in the car, it’s important for you as the driver to have a rest and eat properly so that you’re alert on the road.

New or used? Vauxhall v Peugeot – Your Guide to Small Family Cars

If you are looking for a small family car then chances are you will have been to the local car dealership to look at the latest offerings from Peugeot and Vauxhall. Both manufacturers have a long history of providing reliable vehicles to this segment of the market. The new Peugeot 308 and new Vauxhall Astra have built upon past success. So is it worth going new or should you opt for a used version of these classics?

The Peugeot 308

In September 2007 Peugeot released the Peugeot 308 under the tagline ‘The drive of your life’. It was built on the success of its predecessor the 307. The designers have managed to incorporate high standards of safety equipment and excellent road handling into the new model. It provides a spacious interior and greater carrying capacity which can be expanded to 1,398 litres when the seats are folded. The Peugeot 308 boasts class leading aerodynamics that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The 1.4 VTi 95bhp with 5-spd manual gearbox retails at Peugeot dealers in the UK from GBP11995. The 1.6 HDi 90 bhp 5-spd manual gearbox can cost as little as GBP13295. The car performs well with the 1.6 THP 150 bhp version reaching 0-60 mph in just 8.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 132 mph. The 1.6 HDi 110 bhp version boasts 60.1 miles per gallon consumption rate.

Pre owned cars a best option for all used car buyers

Because the main objective of the local car dealer is to make profit not to sell used cars on reasonable price. But since the pre owned cars has entered into the market of used cars the sale of used cars has suddenly increased. The reason behind this is the facilities and services that pre owned car dealers provides that none other dealer provides.

The best thing about the pre owned car dealer is that you will get the warranty with a pre owned car so you will not hesitate to buy a pre owned car. None other dealers provide warranty so buyers often hesitate to buy used cars and second buyers thinks several times before handing over the money. Another benefit of buying a used car is that you get a few free services from the company authorized service station so if there is any default in your car then you can repair it also free of cost.

The car, pre owned car dealers sell are basically those cars which company buys from individual dealers and then they resell it through pre owned car dealers after repairing all damages. You can get there the entire latest model in reasonable price. Pre owned car dealer is one genuine source to buy a second hand car, because if you are dealing with a pre owned car dealer that means you are directly dealing with the company so the chances of forgery is almost zero there.

The Best 7 Seater SUV, Cars, or Vehicles For Sale

Depending on your age, you may or may not remember the old station wagons. With that long and skinny look they would seat 5 passengers under normal circumstances. The cool thing was if you need room for a couple more people, there was usually a fold down seat that you could pop up in the rear. We called it “the way back” and all the kids wanted to sit back there. The wagons even had that cool tailgate that went down like a pickup truck, but also swung open side ways.(Check out the Honda Ridgeline truck for the only vehicle I’ve seen with that feature in the last 20 years)

But the station wagon went away in favor of the SUV and the Minivan. This is not necessarily a bad thing. These SUV’s look pretty cool, are high off the ground, and people feel safe in them. Minivans, though they sometimes have a bit of a stigma, are about as useful a vehicle that has ever been made. The amount of people matched with the massive cargo space and seating options make them like no other vehicle that has ever been made. Both of these will carry at least 7 passengers. Here are 7 of the most popular.

SUV
The larger SUV became hugely popular in the 1990′s. Gas was cheap, the economy was good and everybody wanted and SUV. Though things have changed over the last few years with the sky-high gas prices and the economy in the tank, many people still have the need for them. Most of them can get in around 20 MPG city/highway combined, which is not terribly awful.
